Today with your Pentax

I broke with protocol today, and took only one camera with two lenses. Then I only used one lens. We went to the weekly free concert in the city center and I got a few shots. I couldn't get back far enough because the crowd was there. The name of this band is Beatify, and they played a mix of pop and rock from the 80s to I assume present day, since some tunes I didn't recognize.

Hello Jason.
Nice photos. I am the same. I would only recognize the old tunes ;)

I see PENTUP has dug up an old thread about Ricoh lens roadmap. ( Dpreview )
Yes indeed Ricoh are slow to release lenses. Pentup wants a 50 to 600mm or similar range. That is not going to happen anytime soon. That is for sure.
I have a ton of options for my uses to be honest. Cannot really say anything much is missing for me.
Some thoughts here.
Nikon did not have a 11 to 24mm for landscapes.
Canon did not have a 105mm F1.4 for bokeh. ( neither did nikon until recently. )
Do i want a fast F1.4 in 20mm 24mm 28mm 35mm ? Not really much I do not. The 35mm is available from Sigma and I have not bothered.
For me personally I do not see much missing to worry too much about. That is my opinion. The 105mm F1.4 is a luxury over kill item of glass that I could easily go without. The 85mm F1.4 was a massive missing piece for a long time yes that is my opinion and I will agree there. You cannot expect Ricoh to please everyone just like canon and nikon never used to please everyone in all their individual wants and individual claims.

My thoughts are that Ricoh have planned ahead much much better than most of the posts on that thread realize and you will find out what the answer is to the 24 to 70mm when Ricoh want you to find out and not before. The current 24 to 70 is not AW. It is crying out for a better weather sealed option in my opinion anyway and will need better AF like what the K3 iii demands from a lens. It was planned exactly right by Ricoh to enable the K1 to have glass available as quickly and cost effective as they could do. The Nikon and Canon 24 to 70 lenses are great but are very expensive so the Tamron that Ricoh used meant at the time that Ricoh had a niche to use. Both the K1 and the 24 to 70 were fantastic value at the time. The K1 iii may well abandon that kind of thinking all together. It may be very expensive on release and also use a lens that is very expensive eventually when there are no more 24 to 70 lenses left from Tamron to re badge.
I can assume and make up things just like those people on that thread. It is all complete guesswork.

Hello Dino. I know Pentax news lately has been all about mono and the mono K3iii. Well and good.
But I have a feeling that several of your recent Wales series might be very nice in color. Might you post one or two?
Yesterday's post, the one in color, made me want to see more.

Hi Dino. I really like the second BW image in the last post you posted.

My take on the lens road map issue, if there is one, is that I'd like to see continued development and release of *any* new products in a quicker fashion to keep people interested in the brand and to keep products moving. I don't want to see Pentax dry up and fizzle out, which they kind of seem to be doing now. Most of their new products are re-issued old products with a few minor changes. I hope to see a new K1mIII with a couple of new lenses, hopefully unexpected new lenses, in the next six to twelve months. Even though I have no need to buy one since both my trusty K1mIIs are working great and producing as good of an image as I can muster.

It's hotter than hell here today, and I have yet to go outside for my daily walkabout. Images to come hopefully tonight.

Hello regards colour versions I will keep a look out for some colour versions. Mostly I much prefer black and white to describe the way the light is affecting a landscape.

I do change my mind over time though when I re visit them sometimes. So far hardly any even got saved into colour at all. I would need to re process them into colour from scratch WHICH WILL LIKELY NOT HAPPEN YET.

Sorry if you much prefer colour. I am opposite most of the time. Many of Jason's photos are a good example. Very often I like the black and whites even though Jason obviously chooses colour 90% of the time or something.

For Colour fans . . . Here is one in colour from Wales Trip.

I saved this one in colour and not in black and white so here is an exception that is in colour.

Not a great shot but at least you have another colour one to add to the other sole colour one I posted the other day or something.

Big thanks just for looking. There are no stunners from Wales so thanks for looking anyway. AND Seriously and support this pleasant little community on this site. Hopefully too small a readership to get many twisted trolls. Just folks shooting photos in an unpressured way and sharing. Post your Pentax photos too ( cough nikon cough canon too for example if you feel you want to contribute somehow for some reason ).

Thanks Dino. Yeah, I admit I prefer color for much of photography today even though I worked for the majority of my career dealing with B/W in both sales and technical areas.. But I still view and appreciate mono images. :)

I enjoy following JCD and yourself and recognize the challenge of shooting every day. I'm not quite willing to make that commitment, but I try to get out once or twice a week. I posted my last efforts shooting some images of the Oracle Office Complex over in the "Samples & Galleries" forum because I didn't use my Pentax equipment. I admit I like the Pentax forum people more, I must admit, than I like their cameras. And I do feel it's a little improper to post a bunch of images not taken with Pentax equipment on their named forum.

Well it is all a bit quiet here regards folks contributing so i think perhaps you could post here because I don't mind and Jason does not mind. Really the thread is made up of simple goings out with your camera from Jason and the simplicity is what it is all about. It is up to you. Do add to it if you wish I say since you are a reader.
Also I shoot nikon and canon anyway since this year. I will post those on here. I had intended to buy a canon 85mm F1.2 for bokeh photography ( infact i came very close a couple of times. The one time I won the bid but the seller claimed he damaged the lens and would not let me have it at the price I won the auction. He may have been just annoyed it was not a great price for him.) I bought a Nikon 105mm F1.4 same reason. To explore bokeh photography. The canon 5Dii that I purchased has a 12 to 24 Sigma lens on that is very sharp enough even though it is the very first iteration of this lens so at the moment I keep that lens on that camera. I am pretty crazy with all these cameras. My only mirrorless cameras are my tiny sensor cameras from Pentax and a K01 also. Thanks for reading anyway whatever you do.

Thanks regards Dino26323
