Contax RX

Dirk. I managed to speak to Frazer on the phone to-day, and popped the question regarding a replacement for the RX. He did say that a replacement in the form of an RX2 had been considered at one time, but there have been no further developments, and are not likely to be either over the next 6 to 9 months. That said I have gone ahead, and ordered new RX,as stocks are still plentiful.
He also said he had,had the pleasure of meeting you at Photokina, for a short while. I have met him on quite a few occasions, and think he is such a wonderful guy, who is so helpful, and obliging in every way possible, and I just love his Irish accent.
Ken.

what we need is not nice people with beautiful accent-there are plentiful what we need is a perfect easy to use successor to the rx! without chichi, a lot of useless gadgets.our old zeiss-lenses want a new mam!basta!

I posted my previous message purely to convey the latest information relating to the RX, thinking that it may be of some help to members.
I too have quite a few old zeiss-lenses as you call them, and do not consider the RX to have a lot of useless gadgets. Sorry! in future I shall keep any info to myself.

Ken,

>Sorry! in future I shall keep any info to myself.<

I am one of those who would rather you continued to share what you have with those of us who appreciate it.

Contax are in a mess. If they have finished with the C/Y mount cameras and lenses, which seems likely, and are hoping for success with the N series they better buck up cause Kodak have now come out with a 14 mpixel full frame camera. With the same old Nikkors.
Priced approx £4000!!!
Perhaps they may 'U' turn and create an RTS digital.
Ken,
I don't think Michael was being critical.

this forum is form for exchanging opinions. everybody can make their own. clever people can analyze them and make their own. the best way would be testing a camera. there is now best contax but we hope very much kyocera will integrate much more our opinions.

keep in mind that this is a cmos-design-digital cam not comparable to contax digital 6 miopixel. i have seen posters of 40x60cm of foveon last sunday at photokina.the highgloss-prints looked good but were never as sharp as a contax-analog-film-poster. they knew why they did not show houses where you could see every detail. the subjects were portraits and closeups of flowers etc. btw: i have read that the sigma sd9 would cost 1300 pound sterling, around 2000 usd.

> It's amazing how worked up people get over their cameras! We are like a bunch of small boys... Probably because we spend so much on them. General opinion seems to be that contax are winding down their c/y mount manual system, which a lot of use have invested quite a lot in. What a shame! Hopefully someone will take over the production rights from Kyocera and continue producing the only affordable quality alternative to Leica MF system.>

i just bought a used RX (already using a RTS-3).

looks like mint, but sounds like a birth is wispering in the back when i release it!

is this normal?
