Contax RX

My RX makes a slight ringing noise after the shutter release...have heard from others that this is the norm. My photos still look ok ;)

i like the noise of any of my cameras. then i know precisely i have pushed strongly enough...i have heard never cameras have extra beep. for those who have bad hearing.

Ciao Albino!

Well this sound is not really normal, but it does no harm. The reason is that the mechanism for the f-stop needs litte oil - please do not help Yourself, just bring it to service if You dislike this "bird", otherwise forget it. I think nearly every RX has this "problem" once.

Best regards
Wolfgang

Hey guys,

Kyocera just announced the new RX II on the website. As always, you will find the first information in the hot news folder in this forum.

I just opened a new RX II topic with a photo and further information. Please do not post in this thread about the RX II !

Thanks

Dirk

Hello,

Now that there is "official" word of the RX replacement, perhaps some RX users could give me an idea how useful the focus assist is on the RX.
With asa 100 I'm currently getting one in three shots dead on with a tamron 300 2.8 and 1.4 converter for 420mm. Typically 1/60th @ 4.0 on a tripod.
Also the 85 1.4 handheld @ 1.4 for head and shoulder shots. (shutter 1/250 or better).
When I shoot 1/30 @ 1.4 I have serious issues finding perfect focus dim as it is.

I'm somewhat nearsighted, 20-40 vision, and don't wear glasses.
I've tried using the split image, but find it less than useful. The microprism is totally useless. Bodies are a 159 and an fx3.

I was hoping for some sort of focus indication on Contaxs' replacement, and wonder if it really is helpful in low and good light conditions. With all the auto focus offerings from Canon and Nikon, I'd have thought Contax would make focus indication a priority feature.
Heck, I'd have done handstands if they came out with a body that had audio tone indication of focus, using a seperate earpiece. Then you could concentrate on the image rather than some focus indicator on the side of the frame....
Thanks in advance,
Joe W

practika(former german democratic rep.) had a a unique cross-splitimage(integrated microprism(yes). i have never seen such exchangeable screens on other cameras. why contax did not use it could be explained with patent issues. its a shame! my next camera will be the new one-after 159mm. maybe i will rebuy one plus rtsIII and ax.

I moved up from Praktica BC1 Carl Ziess to Contax 159 mm to the Aria, No Contest despite having a darker view finder the Aria is the easiest to focus.
