Which Contax System suits best to your needs

Actually all I can do is drool Paul. Can't afford to start yet another kit (especially one that expensive). Digital drained my pocketbook big time this year... with more to come.

> Marc,

This might not be the best forum ... but I wanted to make a few comments directly to you. I tried to go to your website and hit the Contact button ... but no luck. Kept just bringing up the main images on your site (or I would get an error saying Page not displayed. I use Windows XP and Explorer on a dial up connection. Not sure what is going on but thought you should know.

Thanks for your comments on the coyot series of uploaded images. I was hoping that that the "Circle of Friends" worked, but obviously you did not think so. The shot was a candid shot and yes, the lady in the center with white pants was overexposed, but think about the shot, a circle with people outside and she was caught in the center and yes, her white pants looked overexposed. The Scary friends shot was also a quick candid, which as a mix of dark and light was not perfectly exposed for all participants, but nobody was drasitcally overexposoed or underexposed and again I hoped that the emotion carried the shot. The shot was at 1/15th (or 1/8th) and some of the ambient light was caught. Perhaps if I had caught more, the shot would have been more sucessful.

I appreciate your feedback. You might want to check out your website on a few more platforms to be sure everybody is able to enjoy your site. I liked the only page which would "come up" (Your home page!)

Thanks,

Michael.

Michael, thanks for the heads-up concerning my web site.

I tried it and almost everything worked, except the master home page failed to load the montage images. When I clicked on the menu items B&W or Color, the moving strip worked. Click on any of those images and a viewing window should come up. If not, no matter, I'm in process of completely redoing the site. Less tricks this time and more images...80% of which will be new work.

BTW, I went back and looked at all of your images here, and found a few to comment on. I hate people who hit and run on one image, without checking out more work. So I practiced what I preach. Some nice stuff there.

To see more of my stuff, also look in my files here. My web site is dedicated to weddings, and I shoot a lot more than that.

> Marc,

Thanks for the photo comments. I appreciate the feedback. I actuall took the "Circle of Friends" down ... deciding that you were right. The overbowering "white slacks" really distracted from the image.

I appreciate the other comments.

Michael.

Hi Marc,
This is slightly (?!) off topic. I have been viewing your posted shots for quite some time now found it a shame not to be able to place any comments on a lot of them. I just tried to comment on 'sleeper at starbucks' with no joy.

Paul

Sorry Paul, as I often send friends, fellow pros and sometimes potential clients to this site to show what Contax gear is capable of (especially digital), I use the Professional setting which doesn't provide for general feed back.

Frankly, I did so after one individual systematically went through my images and rated all of them considerably lower than all other respondents without providing a single comment as to why. I'm certainly willing to entertain constructive criticism, but not a systematic devaluation of every image for god knows what reason. It's their right to do as they wish. It's also mine to block such arbitrary nonsense. BTW, this person had zero images of their own shown here.

When I rate work, I try to say why. And everyone is free to evaluate my Contax work here to see if I might know what I'm talking about, or if they agree with my subjective approach. Critiques are, after all, mostly subjective.

When I want an informative, in-depth critique, I go to my mentor in NYC who is a famous lifestyle and fashion shooter there. He is one of the best photographers I've ever seen, so his comments carry more weight than a blind rating with zero feedback, and no work of their own to evaluate whether they know what they are talking about.

BTW, my mentor is the one who got me into Contax gear in the first place... so you know he has good taste ; -)

Thanks for that info Marc. It is all valid as well. I don't like 'hit and run' ratings either, although I myself have done it. I have only done this when I couldn't put into words what I felt at the time of viewing the image and never, ever have I or would I drop a destructive comment and run. There are a few posters who comment badly on others work without any of their own to show. I wonder whether they are arm chairs critics with nothing to show at all.

All the best for the new year and much sucess in all that you do.

Paul

This is a bit off topic I suppose. I've enjoyed my time chatting about all things photographic with you all, but I can't seem to find the time to participate anymore. Thanks to those who made this such an informative, humorous and fun place to share ideas.

(Dirk can you completely unsubscribe me?)

Best to all of you,
-Lynn L.
